At All Times

The following verses are ones that I quote as I awake each morning and I encourage all you prayer warriors to join me in this psalm: I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps round about them that fear him, and delivers them. O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trust in him. O fear the Lord ,his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. (Psalm 34: 1-10)
An additional one also came to mind this morning:
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. For he is our God; and we are his people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today if you will hear his voice.(Psalm 95: 6-7)
Yes, we are called to worship Him at all times, even at such a time as this like Abraham of old who told his servants wait here while I and the lad go worship, and come again to you. (Genesis 22:5) This is my request of the body of believers.

Hello Everyone,
Its Velda, and I decided to add an update myself since it has been such a long time. This past week with all of the activity here has by far been the most challenging and quite frankly the most scary. Once we returned home, yes I was relieved but at the same time exhausted from the energy entended and by the help of the holy spirit to demonstrate self control while making decisions on how to respond. God reminded me during a quiet time just a couple of days later what he expects of us as his people and what kindles his anger: Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:(Psalm 78:22). The psalmist then list all of the work he had done for the people, and this verse follows: For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works. So then it is my prayer that I may remember this: And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their Redeemer. (Psalm 78:35)

Ah, Christmas!

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We are enjoying a relaxing time together this season with no big plans just rest and enjoyment of God's presence with us. What a wonder to think of our most holy God coming here to be with us. It humbles me to know that he loves me and you so much that he would do such a thing for us. It has been my hope and focus to embrace Gods' presence as much as possible in the quiet of the morning and in the choosing of activities and how my time is spent during this Christmas season. I hope that the gift of God's presence fills each one of you with His love and His peace this coming year.

Happy Father's Day

I hope all you father's had a nice celebration with your families. We had a nice relaxing day of worship, fellowship, and good food for all here at the home front. We also had a nice time visiting with extended family by phone. I know my post is a little behind the others, but watch out the Creers are back! These pictures are just a sample of some of the good food Eddie enjoyed yesterday as well as his Fathers' Day gift of a new straw hat to wear in the garden.

A Psalm of Thanksgiving

I praise thee Lord for your many blessings and misfortunes; for my loving family and the special relationships you have given us, for a warm home with heat that is available during our season of cold, for the challenges of broken appliances that help me realize how much I take these marvelous tools for granted day in and day out, for your wonderful variety of creation that often puts me in awe of your majesty and yet at other times makes me wonder why did you create these things Lord? Yes I will praise thee O Lord my God with all of my heart I will glorify thou name forever! Our Thanksgiving celebration has some unique twists this year. First of all we slept in a bit then prepared to go the Applebees' to serve Thanksgiving dinner hosted by our local Salvation Army for anyone who desires a home-cooked meal for the day. All of the preparations and servers are volunteers from the community. Meals are also delivered for any who are unable to come to the restaurant. It was an enjoyable time for all. Later we got together with friends for snacks and games. We celebrated again later on Saturday with worship and fellowship and of course the full feast again with the Reilly/Tieman families which was a great time of fun and fellowship

Exciting News

On Saturday Eddie and I went to the YMCA to start our family membership and for us to begin swimming again on a regular basis. This is exciting news after being away from regular swimming for more than a year now. Previously, we swam regularly at the high school ( 7 years or more for me) but because of new policy concerns we are no longer allowed. Therefore going without swimming this past year or so has been sorely missed. I am grateful to my generous daughter who helped encourage this idea with her Mother's Day gift and instruction booklet that we finally redeemed as a helpful benefit for the entire family. SURF'S UP! Yeah!

Built Up

This title expresses my mind, body, and spirit after our vacation to Horn Creek Family Camp in Colorado. Our time together and with other families was so valuable and uplifting to me. We had a wonderful assortment of activities as well as quiet study and alone time with our our Creator. As is the subject for many is the altitude and its effect on the heart, yet Gods' grace towards us during this past week far surpasses the vastness of air in Colorado. As we left the camp and travelled on to Colorado Springs to visit Focus On The Family visitor center and then onto Golden to visit friends in the area, the sermon on Sunday reminded us what God desires for us in keeping ourselves in the Love of God;being grounded and secure in the words of Christ. Here are a few verses from the sermon: But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude: 1: 20,21,24,25.

Ah....Summer

The summer days here thus far on the home-front have been reasonably slow yet eventful,let me explain. The first week that Michaela and Joshua were attending CYIA training was also an evening bible school at the local bible church here that Grace attended. Her bible school started with a dinner meal each evening. As a result, Eddie and I had several evenings that week to spend together that were reminiscent of our first year together before children. Our evenings included candle light dinners, walks in the garden, and quiet times to visit or just read a good book. Our own bed and breakfast right here at home. Other activities around here for the past several weeks have included lots of gardening and yard work as well as repair of fix-it projects around the house. We have so enjoyed our harvest thus far of fresh lettuce, rhubarb, and broccoli and look forward to more to more fresh produce to come. Hope all who are reading are enjoying their summer as well.

A Tribute

A little over a week ago we said farewell to someone who had become a special part of our family. She challenged and stretched her three students here with humorous stories and antidotes that gave purpose as well as understanding for how and why you perform with certain accuracies while playing the piano. She often drew me into the lesson with her contagious laughter that could be heard throughout the house whether upstairs in the schoolroom or downstairs in the basement she often put a smile on my face while here in my home. Although I find myself still listening for her voice as she passed on so easily her love and passion for music, she does in a very real sense remain here with us as her spirit of joy and enthusiasm is a special gift that remains with us. We give thanks to the Lord for our season with our special friend: Mrs. Bev. Studderheim.

Trusting God

Trusting God as instructed in Proverbs 3:5-6 is difficult since it seem so natural to lean into my attempt to understand and respond to life's challenges. Yet at the same time I am pressed to lean into Jesus when I can't understand and figure things out on my own. So I choose as the psalmist says to acknowledge him and he will direct my path. I also hope for God's grace to see clearly his direction. Knowing that, all things work together for good to those who love him and are called according to his purpose.(Romans 8:28)

Busy Time

It's a busy time full of anticipation at the Creer household. We are planning and looking forward to our Michaela graduating in just a few weeks. Also our bible study group is having a nice couples dinner this evening at the patio grill of our church patio. Our refrigerator right now smells like a barbecue pit as I set off to grill this sunny afternoon after a wonderful evening of rain last night.

More Spring Break news

Besides a driving permit for Joshua, we also accomplished a few work projects around here. We prepared our garden plot with tilling, seed, and mulch. In addition to that we cleaned out the garage our annual spring project. Eddie also repaired and replaced bathroom faucets and a ceiling fan in the girls room. Our one big project was taking up the carpet in the living room area. Michaela and Joshua also managed to fit in going to the girls' junior college basketball championship game that same evening. All in all it was very encouraging break time that had its beginnings with a get away trip for Eddie and I to the Kansas City area for an enjoyable date time as well as listening to the award winning Harmonic C's at the spring music festival. Any and all who read this please feel free to comment as it would be encouraging for me. In the several times that I have blogged I have yet received any comment or response which makes me think that I am terribly boring or that no one reads these.

Recent Readings

Just this week I finished a book recommended to me by Michaela. I enjoyed it immensely for the challenges and difficulties that were worked through by the author as well as her awe inspiring tenacity to cling to Jesus Christ in word and deed. The book entitled Evidence Not Seen is the story of Darlene Diebler Rose missionary taken captive by enemy forces during World War 11. Her pointed honesty with her trials and battles of the mind and attitude during the very difficult circumstances as a POW on death row results into a riveting story of God's faithfulness to this faithful servant. As you can tell I enjoyed it and would recommend it not only as good reading but also excellent application for personal spiritual growth.

Chicken Sunday

We had delicious chicken at the Brookville restaurant with a family friend, Laura Buenning who traveled here from Knoxville, Tennessee . We had a wonderful time catching up with our typical bursts of laughter and storytelling. A great combination for a frigid cold afternoon in Kansas.

A Picture of Faith

While meditating on the first few verses of Psalm 91 it gives to me a word picture of faith. In the first verse the psalmist writes about dwelling with the most High God. It appears to be a place to stay and hang-out or a most permanent position where you become like His shadow moving only when God does. Later the psalmist says God spreads His feathers to cover us, here is where the faith comes into play, you can't see. The feathers cover and while under his wings we are restricted and unable to move much maybe just enough for a step at a time, yet this is the place according to the verse we trust. His truth is our shield (front protection) and surrounds us (our buckler). I began to look at the psalm again as I was inspired by a testimony given in church on Sunday by a woman who had been a resident of Greensburg a small town wiped out by a tornado some 18 months ago.

Better Than Angels

While singing, "And all the twinkling starry host: Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer" in the hymn Fairest Lord Jesus this morning during worship the picture of the bright star that the wise men followed came to mind to me, probably because the Advent season is coming to a close. Jesus is so much better. "Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:4) May God Bless You All this new year.

While playing basketball yesterday with Joshua I jammed my little finger on my left hand for the second time in the past month so I think I will lay down playing ball for a little while and hopefully find some other form of exercise during these cold winter months. I hope all have Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Michaela and Joshua have practiced diligently and are preparing to play the prelude, offertory, and postlude for both services this Sunday. I am hoping they will do their best.
